Update from Tait School, participating in an Education Program challenge
As of last Friday, we were at just under 22,000 kilometres -- equivalent to 22,000 feet in altitude. Our program will wrap up on June 16th -- weather and the inevitable year-end activities have slowed our progress. We hope to reach our goal but regardless, we are proud of the effort that the children have made. Although our focus
has been on the students performance as a group, some individuals have put in an outstanding effort! For example, we have several grade three students who have put in more than 300 kilometres by themselves!

Hello Byron Smith & team!
I am a grade 8 student at St. Mark's School and we were following your expedition to the summit of Mt. Everest. On Sunday we were all excited to hear that you and your team had reached the summit, and I would just like to
congratulate you on your courage and will-power and also your determination, knowing that many have gone before you and have not returned.
I would just
like to congratulate you once again.
I would also like to thank CBC for allowing us to follow your expedition and Newsworld for their documentaries!
Congratulations,

Well, congratulations to Mr. Smith and his team. You make all
Canadians proud!
I am an elementary school teacher and administrator in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. I have been following your trek and will be doing some work with my Grade Three class this week on your victory.
It just goes to show that with determination and will power we can do anything! A great lesson for us all. Thanks to CBC for their role in this as it allowed all Canadians to "participate".
Thanks again!

I just wanted to congratulate Byron and his whole team for their big accomplishment of reaching the top of Mt. Everest.
Thank you so much for allowing Canadians to join you from the very beginning. It has been absolutely fascinating and educational to me as I have always found Mt. Everest a compelling place. I'll probably never see it but this opportunity of following you on Newsworld has been truly
exciting.
Make a safe trip down to Camp 1 and the Khumbu Icefall and again, congrats!
