Phase 2


Theme 3: Energy and the Human Body

This theme was developed with the contributions of Byron Smith's personal trainer and by the team doctor, who will be accompanying the climbing team to Mount Everest.

In Phase 1, students were first challenged to participate in Training for Everest with exercises and guidelines provided by Les Gramantik, personal trainer for Everest 2000 Expedition Leader Byron Smith.

In this phase, the activities related to Energy and the Human Body focus on maintaining body temperature at high altitude. All divisions (I to IV) will be working toward a challenge to construct a tent.

The Training for Everest Challenge, introduced in Phase 1, will continue. For background, implementation notes and a description of the training program, see Phase 1, Theme III.
