In the fifth phase, students conclude all experiments and challenges in which they have participated throughout the expedition.
Students are encouraged to post their results to the Everest 2000 Submissions and Results pages: Goal Setting, Decision Making..., Energy and the Environment, Energy and the Human Body.
Students will also be invited to continue following the daily updates as Byron and the Everest 2000 team descend from the summit, return to Basecamp and prepare to return to Canada.
Students can continue to send questions to the team and the online experts until they leave Nepal in late May or June. The team will review the work completed by students and respond with feedback when they return to Canada.
As well, a series of online web chats will be hosted by teh expedition members. Students will be invited to discuss their activities and ask questions of the team.
The activities for this phase are listed below. The phase is scheduled to begin on May 15.
Telecollaborative Project:
Students from Division I - IV will finalize work on the "Getting to Know You" project, introduced in Phase 1.
Theme 1 - Goal Setting, Decision Making and Problem Solving

Theme 2 - Energy and the Environment
- Investigate the qualities of the Everest 2000 Expedition that make it a 'clean climb' and compare this expedition to the Hiliary expedition and other climbs in the past. Equipment design technological advancements have made it much easier for expeditions to be environmentally responsible as awareness of this issue has increased in all aspects of life.
